About the Artist
Alexandra Kania is a Chicago based artist who has received her AGS from Wilbur Wright College in 2018 & her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2022. Her artwork revolves around the idea of resourcefulness, where the work utilizes disregarded found objects that are synthesized into regenerated forms in order to give them new significance and meaning. The materials that once had a singular purpose now have another purpose not only in an effort towards sustainability, but also because she is excited by the challenge of a scavenger hunt. She believes that reusable materials are discarded easily without consideration or a single thought of the impact it might have on our future which is why she finds the importance of resourcefulness when creating new artwork.
